Secular Institutes, religious societies similar to orders, approved by 
the Catholic church since 1947. Its members are not bound by monastic 
vows. They go about their regular civil occupations but lead their 
lives in accordance with the three Evangelical Counsels. Secular 
Institutes in Austria: Gemeinschaft Unserer Lieben Frau vom Wege; 
Ancillae Christi Regis; Caritas Christi; Kleine Franziskanische 
Familie; Secular Institute of St. Francis de Sales; Werk der 
Frohbotschaft, etc.
