Saengerbund, Oesterreichischer, established January 30, 1949 
in Vienna. Umbrella organisation of Austrian Choral societies, most of 
which were established in the second half of the 19%%sup th/% 
 century. Oesterreichischer Saengerbund Festivals were held in 
Graz in 1950, in Klagenfurt in 1954, in Vienna in 1958 and in 1971, in 
Salzburg in 1963, in Innsbruck in 1982 and in Linz in 1990. The 
Oesterreichischer Saengerbund is composed of 7 provincial associations 
and comprises 1,424 choirs with 40,577 singers (1993).
