Suessmayer, Franz Xaver, b. Schwanenstadt (Upper Austria), 1766, 
d. Vienna, Sept. 17, 1803, composer. From 1792 musical director at the 
National theater in Vienna; 1790/91 student of A.  Salieri and 
W. A.  Mozart, whose Requiem he completed; one of the most 
successful composers of the Viennese singspiel.

 30 (approx.) stage works: Der Spiegel von Arkadien, 1794; 
Soliman der Zweite, 1799. - Church music; instrumental and chamber 
music.
