SOS-Soforthilfe (SOS-Ruf - SOS Appeal), special institutions of the  
Caritas in each diocese, were established after World War II (1949) as 
"SOS-Gemeinschaft" (Community) and partly financed by private 
initiatives; their fields of activity include consulting and 
co-operation with parishes.
