Salinen AG, Oesterreichische, business for the production and 
distribution of salt, headquarters in Bad Ischl (Upper Austria), was 
run as a federal enterprise from 1926; Aktiengesellschaft since 1979; 
privatised in 1997, the main shareholder being the 
Raiffeisenlandesbank of Upper Austria (H.  Androsch). Follows the 
tradition of salt production in Hallstatt, which goes back thousands 
of years, produces various types of salt (table salt, cattle salt, 
road salt, commercial and industrial salt) and operates tourist 
facilities such as show-mines and the Hallstatt cableway; 350 
employees.
