Salus, Hugo, b. Česka Lípa, Czech Republic (then Boehmisch-Leipa), Aug. 3, 1866,
d. Prague (Czech Republic), Feb. 4, 1929, writer of poetry and
novellas. Jewish author with German Nationalist tendencies; from 1895
worked in Prague as a gynaecologist, together with the poet F. Adler
(1857-1938) dominated the German-speaking literary scene in Prague
around the turn of the century. His poetic works written in a
neo-Romantic style ("Ehefruehling", 1900; "Reigen", 1900; "Ernte",
1903) were quite successful. Also wrote articles in art nouveau
magazines. 1901 A. Schoenberg put two of his poems to music.
