Salzmann, Maximilian, b. Vienna, Dec. 9, 1862, 
d. Graz (Styria), April 17, 1954, ophthalmologist, professor at the 
Universities of Vienna and Graz, 1911-1935 head of the first eye 
hospital in Graz. Studied under E.  Fuchs, the most important 
ophthalmologist of the  Vienna School of Medicine, who dedicated his 
major work, the "Lehrbuch der Augenheilkunde" (Textbook of 
Ophthalmology), to S. in 1889.
