Sauer, August, b. Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria), Oct. 12, 1855, 
d. Prague (Czech Republic), Sept. 17, 1926, literary historian. 1879 
habilitation at Vienna University; lecturer Lemberg (Lvív), 
from 1883 professor at Graz University, from 1886 in Prague. Worked 
mainly on the literature of the 18th and 19th centuries, editor of a 
critical historical edition of "Saemtliche Werke von F. Grillparzer" 
(42 vols., 1909-1948). Founded the magazine "Euphorion".
