Schoeckl Mountain, Styria, 1,445 m, local mountain of Graz, 
located north of the city in the Graz hill country, consists of mica 
schist and folded Palaeozoic limestone ("Schoeckl 
limestone"). Schoecklseilbahn (cable car) from St. Radegund bei 
Graz. Skiing region, slope used by gliders, affords a good view of the 
area, television transmitter. Stubenberghaus mountain refuge, 
Alpengasthof inn. Stoeckl memorial; remains of Roman settlements, 
roads and fortifications. Continues as the Nieder-Schoeckl mountain 
(1,289 m) in a south-westerly direction. Landscape protection 
area and water protection zone.
