Schoengrabern, Lower Austria, market town in the district of
Hollabrunn, alt. 251 m, north of Hollabrunn, in the Weinviertel
region; cadastral district of the market town of Grabern.
Late-Romanesque parish church (around 1210-1230), semi-circular apse
with stylistically and iconographically unique reliefs (themes from
the history of salvation, zoomorphic figures). Initially assumed to be
of Romanesque origin, now disputed; the sculptures may date from the
16%%sup th/% century, some from the 14%%sup th/% century. Gothic
murals (around 1330 and 1350) in the interior.
