Schachermeyr, Fritz, b. Linz (Upper Austria), Jan. 10, 1895, 
d. Eisenstadt (Burgenland), Dec. 26, 1987, historian, archaeologist, 
epigraphist. Professor at the Universities of Jena, Heidelberg, Graz 
(1941) and Vienna (1952-1966). Initiator and president (1957) of the 
International H. Wolf Society and co-editor of the complete critical 
edition of the composer´s works.
