Schauer, Helmut, b. Vienna, Dec. 3, 1943, computer scientist. 
Studied electrical engineering at the University of Technology in 
Vienna, where he was assistant professor from 1968 and professor from 
1985, since 1988 prof. of information science at Zurich University. 
Concentrated on algorithms and data structures as well as on 
specification and object-oriented programming. Published textbooks on 
the programming languages PASCAL and LOGO, editor of a series of 
publications called "Springers Angewandte Informatik".
