Scheimpflug, Theodor, b. Vienna, Oct. 7, 1865, 
d. Vienna, Aug. 22, 1911, pioneer in aerial photograph cartography, 
naval officer, member of the Institute for Military Geography in 
Vienna. Invented numerous technical devices for land survey conducted 
from the air. Created aerial photogrammetry, worked on the problem of 
the "photo map". After his death his work was continued by the 
"Institut S." (led by his brother Karl S. and by G. Kammerer).
