Schenkenfelden, Upper Austria, market town in the district of
Urgahr-Umgebung, alt. 734 m, pop. 1,343, area
25.61 km%%sup 2/%, situated on a plateau in the north-east
Muehlviertel region west of Freistadt. - Wood processing. In 1951 a
fire destroyed most of the town. - Late Gothic hall church (1525) with
Mount Olive chapel; Baroque Calvary church on the Tierberg mountain
(built by J. M. Prunner in 1712) with Stations of the Cross
(axial arrangement); Jakobs-Bruendl chapel (around 1730).
