Scheu, Robert, b. Schoenau (Lower Austria), July 11, 1873, 
d. Vienna, Jan. 25, 1964, politician concentrating on cultural issues, 
journalist, narrative writer, essayist and feature writer, son of 
Josef Franz Georg  Scheu, brother of Gustav  Scheu. Studied law, then 
became editor of the "Arbeiterzeitung" newspaper and worked for 
"Fackel" and "Simplicissimus"; as a civil servant in the Ministry of 
Trade and as the authorised state representative advocated a policy of 
rapprochement towards the successor states of the Austro-Hungarian 
monarchy. After 1918 consultant and free-lance writer, wrote satirical 
plays, amusing articles and a large number of essays. Initiated 
reforms in schools, the economy and the law.
