!!!Schlögener Schlinge

Schloegen Oxbow, Upper Austria, 2 U-turns of the River  Danube between 
Wesenufer and Obermuehl an der Donau; named after the village of 
Schloegen (288 m, remains of a small Roman fort, evidence of 
Roman port) on the right bank of the River Danube; popular destination 
for day-trips. In the Schloegen Oxbow the course of the river changes 
in two U-turns from south-east to north-west/north. Haichenbach ruins 
and the small castle Kerschbaumer Schloessl are located at the first 
turn. Haibach ob der Donau (alt. 528 m) lies at the Schloegen 
Oxbow on the right bank of the River Danube, Obermuehl an der 
Donau (alt. 284 m), Untermuehl (alt. 288 m) and 
Oberlandshaag (alt. 275 m) on the left bank.
