b. St. Gertraud im Lavanttal (Carinthia), Jan. 8, 1924, 
d. Bruck an der Mur (Styria), July 19, 1975 (car accident). Farmer and 
politician (Austrian People´s Party, OeVP). 1956 member of the 
Carinthian provincial parliament, 1959 Party Head of the Carinthian 
OeVP, 1960/61 Provincial Councillor of Agriculture and Forestry. 
Director of the Carinthian Farmers' Association (Bauernbund), 
1971-1975 Party Head of the Federal OeVP. 1962-1975 Member of the 
Nationalrat, 1961-1964 Ministry of Defence, 1964-1970 Ministry of 
Agriculture and Forestry. Made an essential contribution to 
maintaining party cohesion during the OeVP's early years in 
opposition.
