Schlins, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Feldkirch, alt. 
502 m, pop. 1,777, area 6.05 km%%sup 2/%, in the Walgau 
valley.- Jagdberg provincial school and home for young people with 
special needs, "Jupidentstiftung" school for special needs 
children, multi-purpose hall; metal-working industry (pipe bend and 
light metal factory), concrete pipe factory, some tourism. - First 
documented mention 820, part of Austria since 1397. Baroque parish 
church (parish from around 821, today´s building dates from 
1699); chapel in Frommengaersch (consecrated in 1512) with frescoes 
(15%%sup th/%  century), late-Gothic winged altars and side altar 
(1657); ruins of Jagdberg fortress (first documented mention 1300, 
since 1908 home for young people, the central room of the great hall 
has been used as an open-air stage since 1949).
