!!!Schmal-Filius, Adolf b. Dortmund (Germany), Sept. 18, 1872, d. Salzburg, Aug. 28, 1919, fencer and racing cyclist. At the first Olympic Games of the modern era in Athens (1896) he was close to winning his first Olympic gold medal in fencing when the tournament had to be started again because of the arrival of the Greek king.
