Schmirn Valley, Tirol, high-Alpine valley in the Tux Alps drained by
the Schmirnbach stream (also called Kluppenbach). Starts at Obern
(alt. 1,610 m), continues in a south-westerly direction and joins
the Wipptal valley at Stafflach (alt. 1,100 m); at St. Jodok am
Brenner the Schmirnbach stream is joined by the Valser Bach stream.
The upper part of the valley is called Innerschmirn, the lower part
Ausserschmirn. Other villages: Innerschmirn (alt. 1,462 m) and
Schmirn (alt. 1,407 m). Passage to Hintertux (alt. 1,493 m)
via the Kaserer Winkl and the Tuxer Joch mountains (2,338 m).
