interest in education. 1951-1969 director of the teacher training 
college of the city of Vienna (Paedagogisches Institut der Stadt 
Wien), 1969-1980 administrative president of the Schools Council of 
the City of Vienna, 1970-1971 member of the Bundesrat, 1971-1983 
member of the Nationalrat ( schools spokesman of the Social Democratic 
Party, SPOe); advocate of comprehensive schooling.
