Summary Proceedings: legal concept in criminal procedure before a 
district court; if the accused is brought before the judge and admits 
his/her guilt or if both the prosecuting attorney and the accused 
appear in court and all items of evidence and defence have been 
submitted, the judge can immediately pass a sentence for criminal 
offences sanctioned with up to one year of imprisonment. Otherwise 
preliminary investigations and one day of preparation time for the 
trial have to be granted.
