Schroecken, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Bregenz, alt. 
1,269 m, pop. 239, area 23.43 km%%sup 2/%, winter tourism 
(69,184 overnight stays in 1992), located in the Hinterer 
Bregenzerwald mountain region, source of the Bregenzerach river, 
south-west of the Hochtannberg Pass (1,676 m). - Children´s 
holiday home. - Settled by Walsers around 1300. Neo-Romanesque parish 
church (1864-1867), old Einhof and Paarhof farmhouse types; Koerbersee 
lake nearby. The construction of the Tannbergbruecke bridge in 1935 
(90 m long, 50 high) across the 45 m deep gorge of the Seebach 
river opened up the mountain village to tourism.
