Schuster, Peter, b. Vienna, March 7, 1941, chemist. Studied 
at the University of Vienna; habilitation at the same institution, 
where he has been professor of theoretical chemistry since 1973; 
1973-1992 and since 1996 head of the Department of Theoretical 
Chemistry. 1992-1995 founding director of the Institute of Molecular 
Biotechnology in Jena, Germany and until 1997 head of the Department 
of Molecular Evolutionary Biology there. Awarded the Austrian 
Decoration for Science and Art in 1993.
