Schwallenbach, Lower Austria, village in the district of Krems an der
Donau, alt. 212 m, on the River Danube, in the Wachau region, at
the foot of the Jauerling Mountain; cadastral village of the market
town of Spitz. - Late Gothic filial church (1419/20, reconstructed
after a fire in 1463) with front tower covered by a pyramidal stone
roof, Baroque high altar with altar piece (1767) by M. J.
Schmidt, Rococo pulpit; former palace (16%%sup th/% century)
with arcades; Rannahof Palace; houses with late Gothic core; legendary
"devil´s wall" between Schwallenbach and Spitz.
