!!!Schwanthaler, Bildhauerfamilie

Schwanthaler, family of sculptors (Baroque, Rococo); lived in Upper
Austria in the 17th-19th centuries. The family descends from Hans S.
(originally Schwabenthaler), who in 1632 settled at Ried im Innkreis,
where the family workshop was located until 1838. His son Thomas
Schwanthaler later took over the workshop; his sons in turn were
Johann Franz Schwanthaler and Franz Matthias Schwanthaler. Johann
Franz was the father of Johann Peter Schwanthaler the Elder. His sons
in turn were Franz Jakob Schwanthaler and Johann Peter Schwanthaler
the Younger. The last representative of the family was Ludwig Michael
Schwanthaler, son of Franz Jakob S.
