Sohn von [Johann Franz Schwanthaler|AEIOU/Schwanthaler,_Johann_Franz], Vater von [Franz Jakob Schwanthaler|AEIOU/Schwanthaler,_Franz_Jakob] und [Johann Peter Schwanthaler|AEIOU/Schwanthaler,_Johann_Peter_der_Jüngere] dem Jüngeren. Übernahm 1758 die väterliche Werkstatt in Ried; Annäherung an den Klassizismus.
