b. Hollenthon (Lower Austria), June 14, 1952, priest. Studied theology 
in Vienna, ordained in 1976. 1983-1992 priest at Krumbach, 1987-1997 
head of the pastoral department of the archdiocese of Vienna; from 
1993 taught homiletic at the College of Philosophy and Theology at the 
monastery of Heiligenkreuz, since 1997 Suffragan Bishop of the 
archdiocese of Vienna, since 2001 designated bishop of 
Gurk-Klagenfurt.
