!!!Semmering-Basistunnel

Semmering-Basistunnel, tunnel (22 km) under the  Semmering Pass, 
planned between Gloggnitz and Muerzzuschlag on the  Southern Railway. 
Time saved on the Vienna-Graz line by means of the 
Semmering-Basistunnel would be 30 minutes, compared to the  Semmering 
Railway. The excavation of a probing tunnel started in 1994. The 
project was provisionally suspended in 2000.
