!!!Sesselschreiber, Gilg Ägidius

b. Munich (Germany), around 1460/1465,
d. after 1520, brass founder and painter. From 1502 worked as a
painter at the court of Maximilian I, did the sketches of the large
statues at the Tomb of Maximilian in the Innsbrucker Hofkirche church
and initially supervised their casting. His financial difficulties,
which substantially delayed the progress of the work, soon
necessitated the co-operation of other workshops, among others in
Nuremberg and Augsburg and finally forced S. to hand over the work to
the S. Godl workshop in 1520.
