Studied law, teacher and (from 1989) headmistress of the commercial 
school and ''handelsakademie'' at Feldkirchen, Carinthia from 1975 to 
1999, ''Landesraetin'' for environmental protection in the Carinthian 
government from 1994 to 1999, 3rd President of the Carinthian 
Provincial Diet from 1999 to 2000; since 2000 Federal Minister for 
Social Security and Generations.
