b. Breitenfurt near Vienna (Lower Austria), Jan. 13, 1811, 
d. Breitenfurt near Vienna (Lower Austria), May 9, 1887. 
Mechanical engineer and entrepreneur. Founded an engineering works in 
Vienna in 1846, took over W. Norris's locomotive factory in 
Wien-Waehring in 1851 (closed down in 1887) and W. Guenther's 
locomotive factory in Wiener Neustadt in 1861 (closed down in 1930). 
Along with locomotives he also designed and built printing-presses, 
steam engines and steam boilers.
