b. Saifnitz (Carinthia), June 4, 1918. Provincial civil servant 
and politician (Austrian Social Democratic Party, SPOe). Imprisoned 
for political reasons in 1935, provincial secretary of the SPOe in 
Carinthia 1945-1956, member of the Bundesrat 1953-1956, member of the 
provincial parliament of Carinthia 1956-1963, vice-governor of 
Carinthia 1963-1965, provincial governor of Carinthia 1965-1974.
