!!!Simpl

Simpl (originally Simplicissimus), cabaret and revue group in the
first district of Vienna, founded by E. Dorn in 1912. A light form of
entertainment, with erotic performances by various diseuses (F. Ressl,
M. Mars), with little reference to moral and political issues. The
names of F. Gruenbaum (from 1914) and K. Farkas, who joined the
Simpl in 1921 and became its manager in 1938, are inextricably linked
with the Simpl. Chief ensemble members under the management of K.
Farkas were M. Boehm, E. Waldbrunn, C. Kraner and H. Wiener, who
was responsible for many programmes, Farkas died in 1971, and M.
Flossmann, who took over the management in 1974, succeeded in keeping
the Simpl afloat by concentrating on light entertainment. Management
taken over by M. Niavarani in 1992.
