!!!Sonnblick, Hoher

Hoher Sonnblick Mountain, alt. 3,106 m, a peak of the  Goldberg 
Mountains, forming part of the border between the provinces of 
Salzburg and Carinthia. The part of the mountain that lies in the 
province of Salzburg belongs to the  Hohe Tauern National Park. At the 
top, the Zittelhaus refuge with observatory (alt. 3,106 m), a 
research and monitoring centre operating throughout the year; the 
oldest Alpine meteorological station, established in 1886 (initiators: 
J. Hann and I. Rojacher) and the highest meteorological station in 
Europe.
