Sophiensaele, in Vienna's 3%%sup rd/% district: a Russian steam bath
was built on the site in 1838; it was replaced by Sophienbad bath,
built after the plans by E. van der Nuell and A. Sicard von
Sicardsburg between 1845 and 1849; its large hall served as an indoor
swimming pool during winter and a dance-hall during summer. Extended
and altered in 1870, in 1886 and in 1899; since 1986 plans have been
underway to adapt it as a hotel.
