Oil and Edible Fat Industry: The industry depends on the cultivation 
of oleaginous plants (predominantly rape and sunflowers), which is 
currently being stepped up in Austria. Refining, i.e. the processing 
of extracted oil to produce edible products, is concentrated in six 
plants with approximately 500 employees (1993) with a total refining 
output of 73,000 tons of edible oils and 52,000 tons of 
margarine.
