Spreitzer, Hans, b. St. Lambrecht (Styria), Aug. 15, 1897, 
d. Vienna, Oct. 27, 1973, geographer. From 1927 lecturer at the 
University of Hannover, professor in Prague (1939-1945), Graz 
(1947-1951) and Vienna (1952-1968). President of the Austrian 
Association of Geography (1955-1962 and 1965-1966); many expeditions. 
Studied the morphology of high mountains, research on human 
settlements and regional geography.
