Stoeger, Alois, b. Kautzen (Lower Austria), April 12, 1904, 
d. Hainstetten in the municipality of Viehdorf (Lower Austria), Dec. 
12, 1999, theologian. Ordained 1930; 1938-1959 spiritual director of 
the seminary and 1942-1961 professor of New Testament research at the 
School of Philosophy and Theology at St. Poelten; 1961-1967 Rector of 
the Anima in Rome, 1967-1986 suffragan of Sankt Poelten, since 1967 
titular bishop of Aptuca, 1968 locum tenens of the bishop, 1976-1987 
provost at the cathedral of St. Poelten.
