St. Christophen, Lower Austria, village in the district of St. 
Poelten, alt. 247 m, pilgrimage site for car drivers on the 
River Grosse Tulln, cadastral district of Neulengbach. - 
Boarding-house for the visually challenged; the tradition of car 
blessings at St. Christophen dates back to 1928. Parish church (end 
of the 14%%sup th/%  century) with altar-piece by D. Gran 
(beginning of the 18%%sup th/%  century), relief of Mount of 
Olives (15%%sup th/%  century) and statue of the Virgin Mary 
(first half of 16%%sup th/%  century); ruins of Unterthurm Castle 
(first documented mention in 1264, destroyed in 1683).
