St. Jakob im Walde, Styria, municipality in the district of 
Hartberg, alt. 913 m, pop. 1,135, 
area 30.24 km%%sup 2/%, summer and winter tourist resort 
(50,898 overnight stays in 1992) at the source of the River Lafnitz, 
at the west foot of the Arzberg Mountain (alt. 1,111 m). 
Gave its name to the northern part of the east Styrian hill region, 
"Joglland" (Jogl = Jakob), densely forested. Carpentry, 
quarry with gravel works. - Romanesque-Gothic parish church (interior 
destroyed by fire in 1945), reconstructed in 1947/1948, Baroque 
interior, part of the furniture comes from the former Jesuit church at 
Judenburg; presbytery (1732).
