St. Marein bei Knittelfeld, Styria, municipality in the district of 
Knittelfeld, alt. 698 m, pop. 1,157, 
area 60.63 km%%sup 2/%, situated near the entry of the 
Leissingbach stream into the River Mur. - Festival hall; wood 
processing, building and construction industry. - Gothic parish church 
(1440-1447) with vault paintings (2%%sup nd/%  half of the 
15%%sup th/%  century) and late Gothic winged altar (1524), high 
altar (1703); Abbey of the Augustinian Canons Regular (1140-1142), 
later moved to Seckau.
