Staatskanzler, official title of W. A. Prince  Kaunitz (head of 
the Haus-, Hof- und Staatskanzlei - Dynastic, Court and State 
Chancellery) until 1792 and of C. W. Prince  Metternich until 
1848; also, title of the head of government ( Federal Chancellor) in 
the Provisional  State Governments of 1918-1920 and 1945 (April- 
December).
