Stache, Guido, b. Namslau (now Namyslów, Poland), March 28, 1833, 
d. Vienna, April 11, 1921, geologist and paleontologist. From 1857 at 
the Geologische Reichsanstalt, from 1885 its deputy director, 
1877-1879 its director; geological surveys in the Alps and 
Carpathians, paleontological investigations into the Paleozoic era in 
the Alps and the Mesozoic era and early Tertiary period in Istria.
