!!!Stadion, Johann Philipp, Graf von Warthausen

b. Mainz (Germany), June 18, 1763, 
d. Baden (Lower Austria), May 15, 1824, diplomat, statesman; father of 
Count Franz  Stadion von Warthausen. Envoy to Stockholm, London, 
Berlin and Saint Petersburg, from 1805 in charge of Austria's foreign 
policy. Prepared for the war against Napoleon 1809 and, on Austria's 
defeat, was replaced by Count C. W. L.  Metternich. From 1815 Finance 
Minister, founded the Oesterreichische  Nationalbank (Austrian 
National Bank) in 1816 and reorganized the system of taxation.
