Stadler, Karl R., b. Vienna, Oct. 8, 1913, 
d. Linz (Upper Austria), July 7, 1987, historian, adult education 
teacher. 1934-1938 member of the Revolutionary Socialists, in 1938 
emigrated to England; 1946-1948 lecturer at English universities; 
1968-1983 Professor of contemporary history at the University of Linz; 
director of the ´L.-Boltzmann-Institute´ for the study of 
the history of the Labour Movement; 1973 Rector of the ´Renner 
Institute´ of the SPOe (Austrian Social Democratic Party); 
1970-1984 President of the Association of Adult Education Centres.
