Stainach, Styria, market town in the district of Liezen, alt. 
655 m, pop. 2,036, area 10.26 km%%sup 2/%, railway junction 
(station in Stainach-Irdning) in Enns Valley. - Agricultural district 
authorities, district forest inspection, area commission for torrent 
and avalanche control, social advisory centre, Lebenshilfe welfare 
organisation, Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnaium secondary 
schools, culture centre, Volksheim centre; food industry: dairy, 
abattoir, canning factory. - Parish church (1957/58); castles: 
Ober-Stainach (scattered remnants), Mitter-Stainach (built after 1563, 
now a farmstead) and Unter-Stainach (Landhaus rural estate since 
around 1800); Friedstein Castle (1595-1613). - Railway station dates 
from 1875. Custom: Gloecklerlaufen (January 5).
