Stainreuter, Leopold, b. Vienna or Steyr (Upper Austria) around 1340, 
d. Vienna, around 1400, historiographer, member of the convent of the 
Augustinian Eremites in Vienna. Lecturer at the Faculty of Theology of 
Vienna University, from 1385 Papal Honorary Chaplain, on commission of 
Duke Albrecht III wrote the ´Austrian Chronicle of the 95 
Realms ("Oe. Chronik von den 95 Herrschaften"), the most extensive 
history on Austria in the 14th century, a history of alleged Austrian 
rulers since Noah. It greatly influenced 15th century perception of 
history and found its artistic reflection in the wall of coats of arms 
in the Saint George´s Church in Wiener Neustadt founded by 
Friedrich III.
