Stanz bei Landeck, Tirol, municipality in the district of Landeck, 
alt. 1,040 m, pop. 534, area 7.32 km%%sup 2/%, situated 
above the confluence of the Sanna stream and the River Inn, north of 
Landeck, at the beginning of the Stanz Valley, oldest parish in the 
valley; birth place of the Baroque master builder J.  Prandtauer. - J. 
Prandtauer House with commemorative centre; late-Gothic parish church 
(around 1460/70) with Romanesque south tower; ruin of Schrofenstein 
Castle (documented mention in 1228); the tower is still inhabited.
