politician (Christian Socialist, Heimwehr para-military force).
1919-1934 member of the Landtag of Tirol, 1918-1921 and 1933/1934
member of the provincial government of Tirol, 1922-1931 member of the
Bundesrat (President 1923/1924 and 1928). 1920 founded the 'Tiroler
Heimwehr' (provincial level), whose leader he was until 1934.
1926-1930 Leader of the Austrian paramilitary organizations
'Heimatschutzverbaende' on the federal level, 1932-1934 deputy leader;
on June 11, 1933, National Socialists attempted to assassinate him;
1933 Senior Security Chief of the Province of Tirol, 1933/1934 Federal
Commissioner for Propaganda, 1934-1938 Consul General in Trieste
(Italy).
